How to Work with Collections in Scrivener?

Hi everybody, in this tutorial we will learn how to work with the collections at the binder area of the scrivener. When we write a novel or other kind of stuff which we predict it takes a lot of pages, we definitely have to constitute drafts collections in a specif periods. Scrivener has a feature which allow us to separate drafts of our project.

At the above picture I try to take your attention to the binder area as you can see now I dont have any collection at my binder. The binder area is important area it is our everything. The number one arrow is indicating that where we can add Collections to our binder. The number 2 arrow shows that the binder button which will take us to the main (first Collection) binder. This button has an important task, think we have many collections in the binder area but we have to turn back to the main binder so we have to click to the button that I indicate the number 2 arrow. The arrow number 3 shows us that we are at the main binder panel, I mean the first main collection of our project. I will make a clarification with the pictures.

Let’s make a collection. I select a file at the binder (above pic,1 arrow). Then I click to the add collection icon (above pic, 2 Arrow).

After clicking to the add collection button a new collection was created in the binder. You can name the collection with using the area showed arrow 1. As you see with the number 2 arrow I show that we are at the new collection area not the binder, if we want to turn back to the binder we have to press the area that I show with the number 3 arrow. The arrow number 4 points out that “this collection included only the file you selected”. I mean we can add by selecting many files to any collection from binder. Number 5 area shows that “you are in a new collection so you cant add new files or folder” passive buttons. Lets spare whole binder to a collection.

Arrow 1, I am at the binder, Arrow 2 I selected every file from binder, arrow 3, I right clicked on selected files and said add collection — New Collection.

As you see at the final image, I made a new collection and moved to my all project except trash folder to new collection. You can take your drafts with collections feature in scrivener like this method.
